About Us

About Us:

The KC Movement Lab was created by sisters Rebekah and Addie Fasel to bring the benefits of strength and mobility to the Waldo and Brookside communities.

The studio offers private and small group Pilates and strength training, giving our clients functional, low impact training options. Keeping our group classes small allows us to focus more time and attention on each individual. We have 3 reformers in our studio,  which enables us to provide detailed attention to our clients and help each person achieve their goals. Our passion is creating an inclusive community where you can find joy in moving your body. As Joseph Pilates said “Change happens through movement, and movement heals”.

Addie Fasel, pilates instructor, movement lab, kansas city
Addie Fasel

Addie completed her comprehensive Pilates teacher training at the renowned Core Pilates in New York City, and taught private and group classes to an extensive client list in New York for 6 years before returning to Kansas City. While in New York City she also became a Master Kettlebell trainer through Kettlebell Kickboxing and was the main instructor at their flagship studio for four years. In addition, she is a NASM certified trainer, FRC-MS mobility coach, Kinstretch instructor, and a Pain Free Performance Specialist. She is currently finishing an in-depth certification in Postpartum Corrective Exercise.  Addie loves sharing her passion for fitness with others and is always thrilled to watch her clients become stronger and see a reduction in pain and injury through movement. Addie’s favorite part of teaching are the ‘aha’ moments when people understand something in their body for the first time. She also loves to hear success stories when people achieve something they didn't think was possible.

Movement has been a constant in Addie's life, she grew up as a competitive dancer and gymnast. Addie has also practiced martial arts for over a decade and won a national championship in Muay Thai. Outside the studio, you may find Addie enjoying the outdoors, traveling, spending time with friends, family and dog, cooking and reading.

Rebekah Fasel, pilates instructor, movement lab, kansas city
Rebekah Fasel

Rebekah was a dancer for most of her early life, and taught ballet classes as a teenager. When her dance career ended, she started practicing yoga and weight lifting in order to keep moving. While living in NYC she became certified in barre and Kettlebell Kickboxing and was delighted to return to teaching.  After moving back to KC with her husband, she realized that teaching fitness was really the best part of her week, and subsequently decided to leave her job, and go for her dreams.

Rebekah’s favorite aspect of her work as a personal trainer is seeing her clients gain confidence and self-esteem. She believes that fitness builds not only physical but emotional strength and tenacity.  She is dedicated to fitness because her own spinal injuries have been reduced by staying active. Training for specific life events such as pregnancy improved her quality of life so greatly that she feels passionately about helping other women navigate the journey. Rebekah is excited to create an intentional community within Movement Lab that is welcoming, affirming, and truly body positive.

Rebekah, her husband, and their daughters live in Brookside and enjoy anything outdoors and adventurous.
